Adam Blanch
Co-Director & Contemporary Choreographer | Full-Time & Part-Time
Adam Blanch was born in Australia, in 1982.
Adam began his training under the guidance of Karen Thomas and Marie Walton Mahon before joining The Australian Ballet School. Upon graduation, he became a soloist at The Queensland Ballet under the direction of Francois Klaus, earning a promotion in 2005. In 2006, Adam's career took a new turn as he joined the esteemed Sydney Dance Company, collaborating with renowned choreographers such as Rafael Bonachela, Graeme Murphy, Stephen Petronio, Meryl Tankard, Aszure Barton, Kenneth Kvarnstrom, Craig Bary, and Emanuel Gat.
In 2010, Adam embarked on a European tour with Garry Stewart's Australian Dance Theatre, showcasing his talents in the production of "Be Yourself." His versatility in dance extended to the film industry, where he contributed to Paramount Pictures' "World War Z" and participated in ROH2's DanceLine with Wayne McGregor. Adam's collaborative spirit thrived as he worked with artists like Akram Kahn and engaged in projects such as the reimagining of "Faust" in Palermo and performances at Glyndebourne in Melly Stills' "The Cunning Little Vixen."
Notably, Adam was part of The Pet Shop Boys World Tour, the Australian Dance Theatre's "G" tour, and served as a choreographer for the opening ceremony of the Special Asia Pacific Games. His expertise has taken him across Europe and Australia, where he served as a guest teacher for leading companies and schools.
Dance North Academy is privileged to have Adam as a member of our faculty and recently appointed Co-director in 2022. Adam choreographs many contemporary solos for our students as well as contemporary groups, earning accolades for his original choreographies showcased at YAGP in New York as well as various Eisteddfods.
In addition to his dance career, Adam is the Contemporary Director of the internationally renowned Progressing Ballet Technique Program and holds the position of Australian Resident Choreographer for the Tony Award-winning musical "Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill."
